a bit about Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum is the place for nature lovers and those with a sense of adventure.

The less adventurous will also marvel at the stunning landscape. It is situated in the south of Jordan, at the Western edge of the Arabian desert and the protected area itself makes up about 74,200 hectares. Beautiful sandy valleys, towering rock structures and vibrant orange-red hues mesmerise the senses.

The Bedouin have inhabited the Wadi Rum region for thousands of years, their lifestyle adapted for the desert environment. In times gone by before the arrival of popular tourism in the 1980’s, the majority of families lived in the desert herding livestock.
