Getting to Wadi Rum
If travelling by car and you have access to your phone google maps or equivalent will show you the way to your desired destination. If you would like assistance getting to Wadi Rum by taxi from a location not listed let us know and we will provide options.
Amman to Wadi Rum 324 km (approximately 4 hours)
BY CAR: Approximately 4 hours from Amman or a little less from the airport. Follow the Desert Highway 15 to Aqaba road and continue until you approach Rashdiyah village on your right. You will do a U-turn at the Wadi Rum sign and then turn right onto the only
paved road that leads to Wadi Rum. If you wish to break up your journey there are fuel stops and food shops along the way.
BY TAXI: Approximately 4 hours at a cost of about 110 JD. Grab a travel buddy and share the costs.
BY BUS: No buses are currently scheduled to go direct, however you can catch the bus to Aqaba or Petra and go from there.
PETRA TO WADI RUM 115km (approximately 1.5 hours)
BY CAR: Approximately 2 hours where your journey will be split between the King’s Highway, Route 35 and the Desert Highway, Route 15. Once on Route 15 keep going towards Aqaba until you approach Rashdiyah village on your right. You will do a U-turn at the Wadi Rum sign and then turn right onto the only paved road that leads to Wadi Rum.
BY TAXI: Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes at a cost of 45 JD.
BY BUS: A daily bus leaves Wadi Musa at 6am, except Friday. It is possible to arrange through your accommodation in Wadi Musa. The cost is 7 JD.
AQABA TO WADI RUM 72 km (allow about 1 hour)
BY CAR: Follow desert highway to Amman and turn right at the Wadi Rum sign.
BY TAXI: From Aqaba centre 25 JD / From Tala Bay or the airport 35 JD BY BUS: Get in touch and we can advise the most up to date information.
Payment and Prices
Our advertised prices are set to enable us to provide you with a quality tour and pay our local staff a fair salary.
All our listed tours are inclusive of the guide, transportation from the village to the desert and return, food,water, accommodation and good service. The price you are given at the start is what you pay. There are no hidden extra charges.
There are no ATM services in the village. We currently only accept cash payments, so bring cash with you preferably in Jordanian dinar. If you get stuck we will accept some other currencies.
Note: Entrance fee of 5JD to Wadi Rum Protected Area is not included. Payable at the Visitor’s Centre.
Weather
July and August are the hottest months and have the longest daylight hours. At the other extreme December to February have very cool nights and the days are short.
Suggested items to bring
To protect against the elements we suggest sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and comfortable shoes,Wear suitable clothing to protect against the elements. Winter nights (December – February) can be very cold.

What food do we eat in the desert for dinner?
Foods to try during your stay include Zarb, which is a bedouin style barbecue under the sand.
Served with the zarb are a variety of tasty salads and other Jordanian treats.
If you are vegetarian or vegan let us know and we will make sure options are available.
